Our trip has come to an end. Now the long slog back home! We got up at 2:15AM, left the ship for the Porto airport at 3:00. At 6:00 we flew Luftansa to Frankfurt, hung around for a few hours (time for light breakfast). We boarded an Airbus A340 for the LONG trip all the way to Denver – 10 hours! This airplane was decidedly less comfortable than the 747 we were on before. We all decided the service was rude, too!
That long flight was smooth enough. I watched no less than 4 movies! They served two meals, the first was OK, the second terrible.
The worst part of the trip, by far, was getting through customs and re-entering the US in Denver. It took THREE hours, and lots of walking, to get through Customs and Boarder Control (seemed like more than once?), baggage retrieval, security screening (again?). Many flights of stairs, up and down, lugging heavy carry-ons. It was awful!!
We had a bumpy ride on United back to Boise, arriving home about 10:00PM. All told, we were traveling for about 25 hours!
Great trip, great to be home! Pepper was happy to see us, too!
